Atmospheres of another era prevail in this original and ancient 120 sqm home with independent entrance in Silvignano, a medieval village just 15 minutes by car from Spoleto.
You enter and leave the present behind to immerse yourself in another dimension that smells of the past and speaks of history. It's a feeling that captures those who enter this fascinating home, where the spaces are shaped in a personal and unusual way, guiding the visitor through a sort of mini-labyrinth to discover the rooms that make up the "puzzle" of the spaces, all waiting to be explored and lived.
The house is part of a unique building, structurally restored over the years and consisting of only two housing units.
You enter through a main door, located on an external courtyard, which leads to the house, accessible by a double marble staircase. From the entrance, you reach the living room, enhanced by a fireplace that once represented the heart of the kitchen, from there one could reach Step into a network of livable spaces that make up the apartment’s layout, very spacious and bright, consisting overall of: a kitchen, living room, three bedrooms, a bathroom with a bathtub and shower, and a balcony converted into a fourth bedroom or study, accessible by a practical wooden staircase. Light reigns supreme in every room, thanks to the wonderful views of the village rooftops and the surrounding greenery, offering the eye 'strokes' of timeless beauty.
HISTORICAL NOTES ON SILVIGNANO
The property is located in a loverly position along the ancient Via della Spina, once traveled by knights, armies, shepherds, and devoted pilgrims heading to the Sanctuary of the Madonna of Loreto, still today dotted with centuries-old villages and architectural traces from remote eras.
The village stands in a commanding position at an altitude of about 600 meters between the Pettino and Spina valleys, near Poreta, and still retains fortification remains that tell its history, from the Middle Ages to the present day.
At the entrance to the village, it is possible to admire a splendid votive shrine depicting the Madonna surrounded by Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist. Next to it is the ancient washhouse, preserved through recent restoration, where local women used to go to do the laundry until the last century.
Notable is the presence of the parish church of San Giovanni Evangelista, characterized by masonry dating back to around the 12th century.
Information note: Silvignano is a fifteen-minute drive from the city of Spoleto and about ten minutes from the town of Campello sul Clitunno, along the Spina road, lined with tourist accommodations, bars, restaurants, and farm stays nearby for those who want to get familiar with the traditions and flavors of the region.
