Those who love the timeless atmospheres of the Umbrian Valnerina can’t help but fall in love at first sight with this charming centuries-old house, located within the stone framework of the medieval castle of Montefiorello, at an altitude of 700 meters and 4 kilometers from the town of Vallo di Nera, recognized as one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
The property retains the typical features of traditional homes, with thick walls and an exposed stone façade, in keeping with the classic Umbrian constructions of the medieval era. The original structure is believed to date back to the 1200s, but it underwent a complete seismic reinforcement in 1983, and since then it has not suffered any earthquake damage thanks to the restoration work that included updates to comply with seismic regulations. The location is fortunate, with very bright views over the surrounding hills of a splendid area rich in nature, history, folk traditions, and excellent cuisine.
The building, free on three sides, is accessible through an independent entrance and developed over 2 levels above street level. Inside, on the first floor, it includes a residential apartment of about 80 sq.m. overlooking the hills of the Valnerina, with views extending to the Sibillini Mountains. On the ground floor, there are rustic spaces, formerly used as a cellar and storage, with large windows, with the possibility to change their use to residential, creating another 85 sq.m. housing unit or a guest house belonging to the main house. The residence consists of a kitchen, a dining/living room, two double bedrooms, a small bedroom, a bathroom with hallway, and a large walkable attic, which can be transformed into a practical loft if desired.
