The importance of problem solving

Not only real estate agent

A real estate agent is not (or, at least, not anymore and solely) the intermediary who facilitates the meeting between seller and buyer; behind the facade of a broker, there’s much more going on. As simple as it may seem, every transaction requires not only professional and ethical skills but also patience, a willingness to listen and communicate, and ease in dealing with the professionals involved in the sale, from the surveyor to the notary. Consequently, the agent is at the same time a psychologist, diplomat, tightrope walker, and 'fitness enthusiast' to tackle obstacles. In a word, to make it to the closing unscathed, you need to be a sort of 'problem-solving coach.' Hurdles can crop up right from the start: dealing with a suspicious client who's been to a thousand agencies and sees you as a spare tire, handling a seller who won’t budge an inch on their overpriced home, and other setbacks, which are far from rare.
